The Declaration of Secession from the Realms of Her Majesty the Queen and the People of the United States
The concepts of security and self-preservation are the benchmarks that drove man from the savage wilderness and into civilized societies. At the behest of the Federal Government of the United States of America, I returned to the state of the wilderness, followed by my fellow men, to settle the region and make it hospitable to future generations. To this end land was purchased in the Minnesota Territory of the United States and in the adjacent Rupert’s Land of Her Majesty’s North American Empire. With the promise of security and protection, we forged into this rugged and inhospitable terrain, transforming it into a land of agriculture and industry. Along the way we have endured raids and attacks from savage Indians bent on our total destruction and desertion. To this we have petitioned the Territorial Government, the Federal Government, and Governor of Rupert’s Land repeatedly for military aid in the suppression of these attacks. Repeatedly we have been ignored and left to be the sole providers of our defense and continued existence.
Therefore, we are left with the only conclusion being that our continued existence is of no importance to either government, and the region unworthy of its protection and maintenance. In accordance to the principle that governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, and the whenever any Form of Government become destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, we do hereby terminate all ties and loyalties to those who claim unjust dominion over us.
I do hereby relinquish my membership in the great societies of North America and remove with me all the lands of myself, my wife and all of our heirs, from their possession. I do so with the consent and support of my fellow men residing on my acreages. We alone will bear the burden and expense of our security and preservation as we have done previously, save for the aid of Divine Providence. We do so to preserve ourselves, our homes, and our way of life. To these ends we are willing to take up arms in their defense against all forces in opposition, though we will strive for peaceful resolutions.
