The Annex of Moosylvania
Moosylvania has been described as the most desolate and depressing place on earth. Interestingly enough, it is that quality that makes it a semi-popular tourist attraction; because, after spending two weeks there, anyplace else feels like Heaven.
Moosylvania is a swampy forest situated between the United States and Canadian border. Ownership of the area had become quite contentious as neither nation wanted to recognize the land as theirs. It was decided to attache the land to the newly formed Duchy of Frostbite Falls, allowing both sides to declare victory.
In the winter, Moosylvania is a desolate frozen landscape with large valleys formed by the Grimalaya Mountains. The spring thaw causes water coming down from the mountains to flood the landscape and turn it into a marshy swamp for a large part of the spring, summer and fall seasons. By the end of fall, the swamp water drains off the land just prior the onset of winter when the ground freezes and snow blankets the landscape. These extreme conditions make settlements a near impossibility and drive off most people from the region. Only a few backwoodsmen maintain dwellings in the Annex living off the land with little interferance from the outside world.

Facts about Moosylvania
The precise boundaries and details of the area have yet to be determined, because the soft marshy ground swallows surveyors and their equipment whole. During warm periods the temperature in Moosylvania has risen to twenty degrees below zero. Summer on the island lasts from late September to the middle of October. As a consequence, most of Moosylvania is frozen for most of the year, and is underwater during the brief summer.
All travel in Moosylvania is by birchbark canoe, though it has a ten-thousand foot airplane runway. Only 18% of that runway is on solid ground, however, meaning that all flights to Moosylvania inevitably sink into the water.

Annex Anthem: "Moosylvania Anthem"
You don’t need a brain, but you must be insane,
To live in Moosylvania.
There’s a land of swamps, where the Bull Moose romps,
And the muskrat plays all day.
Where it rains and snows, and it hails and blows,
From the 1st of June until the 31st of May.
Oh, to look around, at the patch of ground,
Known as Mother Nature’s sieve.
Though it’s horrible to visit,
It’s a miserable place to live.
Hail to the stagnant waters!
Ma-ma-Moosylvania, the 52nd state.
Ma-ma-Moosylvania, our hearts are filled with hate.
You’ll always find us on our way to Florida or Nome.
‘Cause we hate our Moosylvania home.
Ma-ma-Moosylvania, your glory will be sung.
Ma-ma-Moosylvania, inside an aqualung.
When dreaming of our childhood days where we were born and bred.
We say Moosylvania, drop dead.
Moosylvania, drop dead. Drop Dead!
